My dentist in Cape Town had a wonderful picture on the ceiling, directly above the chair in which I sat while he was looking into my mouth, and it certainly distracted a patient ...
The picture was of an operating room with animals "working" on a human being, removing his liver, kidneys, etc and one of the "surgeons" said something to the effect that "the specimen" was being sent for further testing in a laboratory!!
There is many a truth spoken in jest ... just wish I could have got hold of a copy of that picture.
