Default Misleading description?

I have won this item but are not very happy.

Costume Jewellery - NEW HANDMADE FAUX CRYSTAL BEAR CUTE EARRINGS for sale in Durban

Before I made a bid I asked the Seller why her shipping is R60. I received no answer and made my bid of R1. I won the bid and paid the R61.00 which was fine.

When I received the item I contacted her and asked again why she charged R60 and that the images in her description were very misleading, also her description of the material the bears are made of. She does state that they are 2.5cm which is correct.

Here are my images of the item and postage manner.

I feel that the Seller use the high shipping costs to make up for the low price she got for the earrings.
I also feel the images she have in her description is very misleading.
The description of what the bears are made of is confusing.

I have still not heard from her and I am waiting to hear from her before I rate her.

Anybody wants to comment?

If you knew the shipping before you bid, it would be unfair to rate her just on that. However, she's made a terrific profit on the shipping and as the bears appear to be two plastic jobbies (which cost 15c each) and the earring hooks are 35c a pair - I think you have been grossly ripped off! This is NOT the way Bid or Buy members should be doing business.

Thanks lilythepink.

I did contact her with a question about the shipping charges before I made a bid but never received an answer.

Update Question
Hi! Why is your shipping so expensive?
I will never rate her negatively because of the shipping charges because I knew what it was beforehand.

I am only trying to find out how the forum members feel about it and also to prevent other Buyers to fall for the misleading description as I did. Also for the bidorbuy team to be aware of it.

Update:

Received reason for high shipping charges from her:

I don't care where she buys her "jewellery boxes" or padded envelopes, her shipping costs are still exhorbitant for a pair of cheap earrings. Was the "jewellery box" made of gold or silver?? lol

What should I rate her? She is selling more of these bears.

Yes, I asked her a question on BoB when she posted another pair of these earrings - why is her postage R60.00 cause I think it's ridiculous - she hasn't bothered to answer! I certainly wouldn't rate her if I was in your position of having been ripped off.

I don't hold any particular candle for the seller but fair is fair. The crystal is described as faux ( imitation) and the holders silver plated - that seems a pretty good description!
With regard to the postage charges - they were clearly stated and prospective bidders have the option of not bidding if they dont like them.
There are many other costs associated with shipping other than the post office tariff, packaging, messengers salary, transport costs etc.

I already said:

Two of the images are very misleading. Look for yourself.

Look how big the bears are compared to her face.

Why can't she just say they are plastic? Faux crystal to me does not automatic mean plastic. What about the handmade?

Well, the first little girl who comes through my door and has pierced ears, would get the bears.

I totally understand your frustration Linkaec but unfortunately I think the seller did include all relevant info to the best of their ability including the actual size dimensions. They probably should have included a line that said actual earrings will not be quite as big as in pictures displayed but then again maybe those asian girls have smaller heads and therefore they appeared much bigger? Lol oh well, for R1 I think it's a lesson learned

My main concern is people like this who sell items at R1 and hike up postage fees. In this manner they are circumventing paying Bidorbuy fees.

Being unhappy about the whole thing you could rate neutral and explain your reasons as a warning to other buyers.

I agree with Talamia that this is a ruse not to pay Bidorbuy fees - If they wanted to earn R 40.00 (which I figure is the profit they made) and they sell hundreds of these - the fees would add up at the end of the day!
