  • 1863 Restoration 1981 Sterling Silver Coin?

    Hi Guys,

Need some help, please check the links for the images of this coin.

The coin is stamped ( on the rim ) s925 with some other markings, so it is Sterling Silver, it's the size of our SA Sterling Silver R2.00 coins, but I have no info on the coin.

I looked for it on BOB and eBay, without success. any info will be appreciated :-)

The building is the Port Elizabeth City Hall, and the coat of arms is that of the building. I could not find any reference to your silver piece. Here are 2 relative links though: (Maybe you can use it to further your research)

      Historical Mint Issue ....

It just has that "Cape Historical Mint" or "Our Cape Heritage Mint" or what ever the Mints were called in the 1970s - feeling about it.

I might be wrong, but just weigh it and multiply its weight by R5 and there you go.
