  • Beautiful Copper

    Hi Everyone,

With ZAR coins of quality getting so scarce, I chanced upon this lovely Penny from 1898 on ebay recently. I was worried about shipping whatwith volcanic ash and all but it got here. What a beauty -it has malachite green in the obverse and red purple and brown colour elsewhere.Strike is exceptional for this year too.One can only marvel that such coins still exist,

Its now at NGC. What grade do you think??

    Hi Georg.

From the pictures I would attribute a grade of MS63 perhaps a 64 to the coin. I also have to add that I had similar items returned (i.e same similar type colors) as Artificialy Toned and resubmitted a few months later and all graded.

Good luck and keep us informed.
