  • Green amethysts?

Can someone please clear this up for me? Suddenly everyone is selling green amethysts. Over the last few months. Where do these come from? I've looked it up, and asked jewellers, and all agree that 'an amethyst is, by definition, purple'.

    Whence the green? Poetic licence?

    Hi Noldy,

The green amethyst is better known as Prasiolite. I have a few facetted ones in stock, as well as the less attractive tumbled ones (you can see the tumbles at the ACT market).

    Kind regards,
    Cali Craft

The jewellers are quite right. Have a look in the forum's gem section and you will see a discussion on this.
