  • The new Canon lenses...

Well, what do you think of the new Canon lenses?

Canon Announced 8-15 f/4L Fisheye Zoom Canon Rumors
Canon Announces 70-300 f/4-5.6L IS Canon Rumors
    Canon Announces New 300 f/2.8L IS & 400 f/2.8L IS Canon Rumors
Canon Announces 1.4x III & 2.0x III Canon Rumors
    Canon Developing 500 f/4L & 600 f/4L Replacements Canon Rumors

Personally, I'm a bit disappointed that the rumoured EF-S 35mm f/1.8 USM was not announced/confirmed.

But what is the purpose of a zoom fish-eye?

That fish eye lens is very nice to have as it will replace some lenses in your case. Instead of just having the 15mm or just a 10mm you will a versatile lens from 8-15mm. I would not mind of having one but instead of F4 to have it in F2.8
My dream lens of course is the 500mm F4. But yeah lots and lots of saving!

I just want my 55mm back - that old familiar field of view and perspective.

What I cannot understand from Canon is that they are still making "full frame" lenses, when they have only the one camera?

The 1D and 5D are both full frame cameras :) I must have a look at the telescopes. Would like one for astrophotography

Ag, it works out to about R20K, but... it's basically a 2000mm f/10 lens and can GPS track "birds in flight" - all controlled with your Bravia remote!

Yeah, like in look at my (R23K) EOS 5D Mark II with the (R1K) "nifty-fifty". :D OK, I do have the EF 50mm f/1.4 USM, so it wouldn't be that bad.

Why do you think I'm doing some serious selling on BoB? (More desperate items to come.)

If I can find this item new for R20 000 I will buy one!
I wonder how the f/10 will work at night for wildlife?

Slightly better than f/11, I suppose?

Honestly, I can't. My "skills" limit is a 200mm lens, as I'm a "hand-held" photographer. Only time I use a tripod is for close-up work.

So is f/4 good enough for night photography?

Well the F2.8 would be superb to own but the F4 is much better than F5.6 to have.
If I had the money the F2.8 will be my first choice but currently I am saving up for the F4. As I do own a 300mm F5.6, that is NOT any good for the night.
