    Default Parcel size

When I tried to post a parcel today it was rejected by the post office because it was too large.
I know I have posted items larger than this before but my post office told me they never used to worry about it until October last year.
Apparently for security reasons all parcels must go into bags and these bags are a certain size and if the parcel does not fit into the bag it will not be accepted.
The max length is 1m and the length plus girth must not be more than 2m.

    Wow, that's bad.
I know the booklet gives these dimensions.
It will probably be better to send it via courier

So, max size is therefore 1m by 0.5m by 0.5m?

If you measure the height then measure the waist as you would measure your waist it must not add up to more than 2m.
So a box can have each side measuring 25cm=100cm for 4 sides or 20cm by 20cm by 30cm by 30cm=100cm plus 100cm in height=200cm
The lady in the post office said people who sell large duvet sets cannot get them into these bags.
    I checked .

Am so glad I live in Grahamstown where our PO staff go out of their way to help me, no matter the size of the parcel. So long as my parcel doesn't weigh more than 30 kg, they accept it.

Oops, most definitely need to change the batteries in the ol' calculator... so max size is 1 metre by 25 centimetre by 25 centimetre?

Don't think so... it's got buttons for fractions, brackets, logs, roots, offs (although this one always makes the screen go blank), mean averages, deltas and even the numbers 0 to 9... but no add button that I can see, sorry.

Doesn't your computer keyboard have a calculator symbol?

No button that I can see... It's a "laptop" - even though it is always on the desk - and getting to the calculator is like mouse click here, there and everywhere.

Then again, I've never been good at maths...

On my desktop keyboard, there are buttons above the functions keys for calculator, email, Internet Explorer, etc.

It would appear that the following is another way, but it looks like a mission:-

    1. Click on the "Start" button, choose "All Programs", "Accessories", then "Calculator".
    2. Press WINDOWS+R, type in "calc" (without quotes), and press ENTER.

New batteries installed, so let's see... (all values in metres):

    1 + 0.25 * 4 = 2 !!!

    and for a cylindrical parcel...

    1 + pi * 0.318 = 2 !!! ²
